What's New?
The War Room Hunt
The Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms in London are ideal for team building activities such as the War Room Hunt. Over a 2-3 hour period each team is tasked with working their way through a series of progressive clues around a dedicated route (each team’s route is different so that although they will interact with others en route they will not be slavishly following each other).
In order to fulfil the task, the team must find out various pieces of information about Churchill, the war rooms and local attractions. They must also take a number of photographs of cryptic items listed in their team packs, either as a photographic “scavenger hunt” or – in the style of “The Apprentice” – replicating certain existing photos but with the team themselves appearing in the pictures (this will involve negotiation and guile with any number of organisations in the area).
Calendar Boys & Girls
Using digital or original Victorian camera equipment, teams will be tasked with taking & developing a series of original compositions of themselves in a 12 different poses… requiring creativity, planning and learning the original techniques of earliest photography, this is an unusual and fascinating challenge.
The theme of the overall compositions is up to you, but recent “favourites” have included Heroes From History and “In The Flesh”
Quality and humour are essential, as once all 12 photos are complete, we then develop them into wall or desktop calendars – these are sent on to the attendees with a view to providing them with both a memento of the day (which could be sold on for charity?) and a long-lasting testament to what can be achieved with close co-operation and teamwork.
Wacky Races – Pedal Kart Spectacular!
Remember Dastardly, Muttley & Penelope Pitstop? Well here’s your chance to re-enact the plot as you attempt – in teams – to race each other “around the globe” to become the “World’s Wackiest Racer”.
This challenge involves the teams racing, a full-sized pedal powered kart. Each kart has a solid frame onto which the teams have to fix all the necessary components and details, including the all–important sidekick!
In addition, these karts need to look as much like the original vehicles as possible (e.g. the Boulder Mobile, Creepy Coupe, Compact Pussycat and Mean Machine). The closer the vehicles look to the originals, AND the closer the drivers look like the original costumed characters the further up the track they will start. Saying that, Lap penalties will be added for any infringements of the rules. Drat, drat & double drat!!!!
Horse Whispering – a useful leadership tool
Not just “another management course”, rather an acknowledgement that 93% of all communication is non-verbal, and by working with horses - who do not communicate verbally (at least not in English) - this provides an ideal opportunity to begin to understand that. By taking away words, we are forced to really think about the way we act and the impact this has on others. Horses react and respond to body language, not verbal commands - just as employees respond better to what they see and sense in their leaders rather than what leaders say
Segway Racing
Forget all previous motorised experiences; riding a segway is a unique and thrilling experience. Segway racing is the latest motorised craze that offers a new dimension to an already popular theme. Try your hand at mastering these two wheeled chariots – once you’re on you will not want to get off! Activities can be run as team challenges around obstacle courses in a relay race format, or as a head to head against your colleagues. Once you have grasped the techniques required to manoeuvre the vehicles you improve your self confidence and create a real sense of achievement. Segways are also incredibly eco-friendly with zero emissions and can operate on virtually any terrain making them not only extremely flexible but green in the process!
